Once withdrawn from the tank the steel has metallurgical bond providing a tough and durable weather resistance layer of zinc carbonate which provides protection for up to 30 years. The resulting galvanized steel can be worked with and welded as usual but adequate ventilation should be use to avoid inhalation of fumes.
